Ever since I could remember, I’ve wanted to tell stories. I believe they have the ability to bring people together and I see something incredible in that. Who doesn’t have that one unforgettable memory of being mesmerized by what was being shown to them? I want to support content that I believe in, so that they can tell their stories as well. I want people to be inspired by the work I do.

I’ve spent the better part of the last decade entrenching myself in the world of film festivals and have grown a deep love for the magic of discovery that can happen at them. They give young and emerging filmmakers an audience, and there’s nothing more important to a film than an audience. It’s what makes it worth trudging through the cold & snow every January at Sundance. It’s why I long for the never-ending days that help bring the Tribeca Festival to life every June. It’s what brings me to festivals every chance I get from Charlotte to Portland and everywhere in-between.

I have dedicated myself to being a champion for filmmakers. I knew right away how important it was after having the opportunity to work with the Oregon Media Production Association in helping craft materials to sway members of the House and Senate to give Oregon Film more incentives, which resulted in a success and helped bring more opportunities to the state. In recent years, I’ve been working with Columbia University, where I received my MFA in Creative Producing, to help streamline their production advisement process so that the focus could return to supporting young filmmakers in bringing their stories to life.

The work that I have been most drawn to have been stories that are being told by those who have struggled to have their voices heard. I want the work that I do to elevate women, BIPOC, and LGBTQA+ communities. That begins by showing these filmmakers support and it is my hope that I’m able to do so in every way that I can for as long as I can. There are great stories out there that are being overlooked. I’m a member of the disability community, so I know how hard it is to be heard. I want to make it easier for future filmmakers.

In my spare time, I’m probably listening to Taylor Swift.

The day I say it’s good, is the day I should start doing something else.
